Sadio Mané invests 8.7 billion FCFA in Bambali agro-industrial park for mango processing
Sadio Mané, through his brand SM10 Agro, is investing 8.7 billion FCFA in an agro-industrial park in Bambali, Senegal. The project, presented on August 20 in Sédhiou and Bambali, aims to develop mango processing and valorization in his home region. The complex, located about five kilometers from Bambali in the Boudhié Mar area, will feature a processing platform with a capacity of 10,500 tons per year. It will also include units for export, pulp production, dried mango, and mango butter. Additionally, the project involves establishing a 500-hectare plantation of Kent mango trees, a variety prized for export quality. The initiative seeks to address structural challenges in Senegal's mango sector, such as a lack of conservation and processing capacity, which leads to significant post-harvest losses. The FAO reports that up to 40% of fruits and vegetables harvested in sub-Saharan Africa are lost due to inadequate infrastructure. Socially, the project is expected to create 1,000 jobs initially, expanding to nearly 2,500 jobs, primarily for young people in the Sédhiou region. Construction is projected to last 18 months, with a groundbreaking ceremony planned for September 2026. The park will incorporate environmental solutions, including solar energy and waste valorization for sustainable operation. This project continues Mané's long-standing commitment to his village, where he has previously funded a high school, a health facility, a gas station, a post office, and telecommunicat
