NDC will no longer pursue removal of Jean Mensa, says Johnson Asiedu Nketiah
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress NDC, has stated that his party will no longer seek the removal of Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana EC. According to a report by myjoyonline.com, Nketiah indicated that the recent departure of two EC deputies, Dr. Bossman Eric Asare and Samuel Tettey, is sufficient for the party. Dr. Asare, the Deputy Chairperson for Corporate Affairs, resigned effective July 31, 2026, while Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairperson for Operations, retired. Nketiah had previously suggested that Jean Mensa would feel isolated after the deputies' exits. In an interview on August 1, 2026, he noted that while a court had directed the EC to continue its work, the NDC was closely observing developments. He added that if Mensa chooses to remain in office, she should be prepared for loneliness, stating, "The Three Musketeers, two have left, so she needs to cry; I am left alone. If she wants to stay there, she should start crying; I am left alone."
