Cross River State increases 2026 budget to N963 billion, citing changing economic realities
Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has signed the state's 2026 Supplementary Appropriation Law, raising the budget from N961,624,047,275.08 to N963,074,438,018.60. The Governor expressed satisfaction with his administration's officials, despite negative social media narratives, stating that the progress reflects their dedication. He emphasized the need for government to dynamically review policies and programs to align with changing economic realities and ensure a balance between development aspirations and economic circumstances. The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, commended Governor Otu's flexible leadership. Ayambem noted that the supplementary appropriation addresses unforeseen developments and needs, and will allow the government to reallocate funds from dormant budgetary positions to critical areas, while also accommodating new revenue from increased Federation Allocation to the state.
