Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya assumes office as Nigerian Bar Association President
Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has officially begun her tenure as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA. Her first day included a tour of the NBA House national secretariat with her predecessor, Afam Osigwe, SAN, and an interactive meeting with staff. She emphasized that leadership is defined by actions taken after assuming responsibility. Badejo-Okusanya won the 2026 NBA national officersโ election with 12,317 votes, defeating Lateef Akangbe, SAN, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN. Her victory makes her the second woman to lead the association and the first woman directly elected to the position by NBA members. During her inauguration, she pledged to prioritize the economic well-being of lawyers, reform the associationโs electoral system, and established an election reform committee chaired by Babatunde Ajibade, SAN. She also cautioned lawyers against abusive social media posts targeting colleagues. Her two-year tenure will focus on implementing her agenda for the legal profession.
