NPP to announce its position on proposed constitutional amendments

This announcement follows the completion of an internal review of the Constitution Review Committee CRC report and the government’s responses to its recommendations. The NPP’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Policy Committee has finalized its review of the CRC report and the government’s Position Paper, dated July 30, 2026, and has subsequently drafted the party’s own position paper. This document will now be presented to the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the National Executive Committee NEC for their consideration and adoption.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Chairman of the NPP Policy Co-ordination Committee, confirmed that the party will communicate its official position to the Ghanaian public once the leadership has considered and adopted the paper. The NPP stated that it was formally consulted during the national constitutional review process and submitted its input to the CRC, which then presented its report to the government. The government subsequently issued its Position Paper detailing its responses to the CRC’s recommendations.
