Zawia Refinery reports drone collision with naphtha tank, causing leak
The Zawia Refinery Company announced that a drone collided with its untreated naphtha tank 7-1 at 3:45 a.m. Libya time, creating two holes and causing a naphtha leak. Refinery officials and employees have contained the situation, stopping the leakage, and confirmed no fires or injuries occurred. The company expressed strong disapproval of military equipment on its premises, citing significant risks to lives, property, and the environment. Zawia Refinery management appealed to all parties to keep its facilities, critical due to their strategic importance, operations, and equipment, clear of clashes and armed activity. The company emphasized that worker and facility safety, along with continuous production, are top priorities, urging all responsible parties to take necessary measures to ensure the security of the refinery and its surroundings. It remains unclear if the drone carried an explosive device or who was responsible, and whether the incident is linked to recent militia clashes in Zawia and Surman.
