MK party reshuffles leadership, Jacob Zuma's son Duduzane elevated to deputy president
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party MK party president Jacob Zuma has announced significant leadership changes, including the immediate removal of national chair Nkosinathi Nhleko and first deputy president Dr John Hlophe. Reverend Mxolisi Phakathi replaces Nhleko, while Zuma's son, Duduzane Zuma, has been appointed as first deputy president. Tony Yengeni was named second deputy president. Dr Hlophe will, however, retain his position as the party's parliamentary leader in the National Assembly. Nomsa Dlamini was replaced by Lindiwe Mtshali as deputy secretary-general. Willis Mchunu has been appointed to the presidency collective, while continuing as the KwaZulu-Natal provincial leader. The strategic presidential team has been dissolved, and the Presidential Task Team PTT reinstated. Zandile Hlophe and Sibonelo Maphumulo, members of the PTT, are now the party's authorized representatives and signatories with the Independent Electoral Commission IEC. Furthermore, the moratorium on the party's finances, secretariat, and communications has been lifted, with secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo and treasurer-general Brian Molefe resuming their full responsibilities. President Zuma will maintain political oversight over the organization, including its finances and key functions.
