Nigerian troops neutralize terrorists and recover weapons in Katsina, Sokoto, and Plateau states

In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, neutralized a key terrorist lieutenant identified as Smally, a lieutenant of Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, during a clearance operation in Matazu Local Government Area. The operation, on August 29, led to the recovery of three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition, and six motorcycles. In Sokoto State, the same operation thwarted an attempted advance by armed terrorists towards Ghandi town in Rabah Local Government Area.

Troops engaged the terrorists at Ghandi Bridge, forcing them to retreat and abandon an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, and other items. In Plateau State, troops of Operation Enduring Peace neutralized a suspected terrorist during an intelligence-led operation in Zak village, Wase Local Government Area, on August 29. The individual was neutralized after attempting to disarm a soldier during a stop-and-search operation.

Recovered items included two AK-47 rifles, one magazine, and other tactical gear. Major General Maxwell Dangana, Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, commended the troops and urged residents to provide timely information to security agencies.
