Nigerian troops foil terrorist advance in Sokoto State

Acting on intelligence about the armed group's movement, the troops deployed near Ghandi Bridge. They engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat. Several insurgents reportedly sustained gunshot wounds and attempted to escape by jumping into an adjacent river.

A subsequent search operation recovered one AK-47 rifle, one loaded magazine, additional ammunition, and personal effects abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. Search and mop-up operations are ongoing to track down the suspects and prevent further threats to Ghandi and surrounding communities.
