Nigerian states receive N435bn for infrastructure and security in first half of 2026

This funding, distinct from conventional statutory allocations, is classified as "State Infrastructure and Security" and is distributed as regular FAAC revenue. The intervention addresses Nigeria's worsening insecurity and significant infrastructure deficit, with 29 states recording revenue under this window. While 16 states specifically reported N265.50 billion under the dedicated revenue line, another 13 states reported N169.75 billion as other FAAC-related revenue.

Three states Adamawa, Anambra, Oyo recorded zero receipts in this category. The total identified N435.25 billion represents nearly 10 percent of the N4.55 trillion federation allocation received by states with available half-year records. Experts like Muda Yusuf, CEO of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, view this increased funding to states as a positive step towards decentralization, emphasizing the importance of transparency and effective spending.

Economic analyst Aliyu Ilias also highlighted the need for public oversight and for states to be more transparent.
