Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa approves 60% subvention increase for state-owned tertiary institutions
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved a 60 percent increase in the monthly subvention for all state-owned tertiary institutions. This decision, announced by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, aims to enhance the institutions' ability to meet obligations, ensure timely salary payments, and improve the learning environment. Governor Aiyedatiwa also approved the immediate implementation of the agreement between the Federal Government and university unions for all relevant state-owned tertiary institutions, addressing welfare issues and aligning with national standards. These approvals are effective immediately. The Governor urged institutions to use the increased subvention judiciously, prioritizing staff welfare and academic excellence, and called on unions to maintain industrial harmony. This increment follows an industrial action declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko branch, regarding the non-implementation of the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement.
