New IMF agreement to bring financial changes for Senegal

The proposed program involves approximately 2.2 billion dollars over 36 months, equivalent to nearly 1,300 billion CFA francs. This funding is not immediately available, as the agreement, reached at the IMF staff level, still requires approval from the Fund's management and Board of Directors. The primary objective of this program is to help Senegal achieve a more sustainable financial trajectory, reduce its debt-related vulnerabilities, and attract additional financing, particularly from the World Bank.

The agreement is expected to lead to increased oversight of certain public expenditures, tax reform, a gradual reduction of some exemptions, and a revision of certain subsidies.
