Nigeria wins seven medals at African Archery Championships, including first team gold
Nigeria achieved its most successful campaign at the 15th African Archery Championships in Oran, Algeria, securing a total of seven medals: one gold, five silver, and one bronze. The historic gold medal was won by the barebow women鈥檚 team, comprising Faith Adekogbe, Mandu Eteidung, and Precious Fanny-Amun, who defeated hosts Algeria. Faith Adekogbe was a standout performer, earning three medals: a team gold, an individual silver, and a mixed team silver with Abubakar Usman. Usman also secured two silver medals. The barebow men鈥檚 team added another silver, contributing to Nigeria reaching all three barebow team finals. In the compound events, Nigeria earned three more medals, with the men's team and mixed team both winning silver, and Yvonne Hareke Evans-Uhegbu securing an individual bronze. Team Nigeria, an 18-athlete delegation, was the country's largest contingent ever sent to an African Championships. Federation president Mohammed Baba Abdullahi described the outcome as a turning point for Nigerian archery, while director of marketing Emmanuel Oyeleke called for increased investment and corporate support for the sport.
