National Assembly to convene extraordinary session on August 10, led by President Ousmane Sonko
The National Assembly's office has announced an extraordinary session set to begin on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The agenda, outlined in an order signed by National Assembly President Ousmane Sonko, includes the examination of three bills: Bill No. 15/2026 on the Labor Code, Bill No. 16/2026 on the Social Security Code, and Bill No. 25/2026 concerning the protection of critical information infrastructure and digital security. Additionally, two legislative proposals will be discussed: Proposal No. 33/2026 to amend Article 37 of the Constitution, and Proposal No. 34/2026 regarding the legal framework for special credits. The session will also address the ratification of resolutions for the creation of six parliamentary inquiry commissions. These commissions will investigate sensitive issues such as severe deficiencies in land management and the public maritime domain, irregular transfers of state-built heritage properties to individuals, the Senegalese Government's use of TRS-type financial mechanisms, irregularities in the procurement and execution of contracts for the "One Student, One Computer" program since 2017 totaling approximately 48 billion CFA francs, revenue shortfalls and the management of tax exemptions, and the conditions for issuing and renewing fishing licenses. The extraordinary session will conclude once this agenda is exhausted, with no possibility of modification once it has commenced.
