Naridon community in Kaduna State recounts midnight horror after attack kills at least 30 residents

The attack, which occurred shortly before midnight, saw heavily armed men storm the village, shooting indiscriminately and setting properties ablaze. Among the casualties were five siblings from one family, with a sixth child critically injured and fighting for life in a hospital. Community leaders, including Yunusa Babados and the Secretary to the Village Head of Naridon, Mr Dogon Rana, described the immense loss and the challenges faced by survivors.

Mr Dogon Rana also became a victim, with his shop among the properties destroyed. Residents highlighted the deplorable condition of the road leading to Naridon, which they believe hindered security operatives and emergency responders from arriving quickly. President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani condemned the attack, with Tinubu directing security agencies to track down perpetrators and Sani pledging humanitarian assistance and improved security collaboration.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Amnesty International also condemned the killings, calling for a review of Nigeria's security architecture and thorough investigations. The Southern Kaduna Peoples' Union called for intelligence-led policing and rapid deployment of security forces. Security analyst Mohammed Ali emphasized the need for improved intelligence gathering to prevent such attacks.
