Namibia's transport ministry confirms national airline talks with Ethiopian Airlines
Namibia's Ministry of Works and Transport has confirmed discussions with Ethiopian Airlines regarding strategic and technical cooperation for restarting a national airline. The government aims to avoid past mistakes that led to Air Namibia's collapse, ensuring Namibian expertise and national interests are central. Ministry executive spokesperson Jonas Sheelongo stated that these discussions are analytical and technical, with no binding commitments made. The ministry also disavowed a circulating internal document that reported on potential management contracts and projected losses for a new airline, clarifying it is not an official or accurate reflection of their deliberations. Sheelongo urged media and commentators to verify facts and refrain from disseminating unofficial material.
