Standard Bank Namibia introduces breastfeeding rooms for employees
Standard Bank Namibia has established dedicated 'mommy's rooms' at its head office in Windhoek to support breastfeeding employees. Elzita Beukes, Standard Bank executive officer, stated that these rooms provide a private environment for mothers to express and store breast milk while continuing their work. Cicile Fouche, Standard Bank Namibia health and well-being specialist, emphasized that this initiative aims to create a workplace culture where employees feel valued and respected. Employees Dinelao Gabriel-Nandjigua and Imani Haufiku shared positive feedback, highlighting how the facility has eased their return to work after maternity leave and helped them balance work responsibilities with breastfeeding. This move aligns with government calls for employers to create breastfeeding-friendly workplaces, with Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services Suzan Ndjaleka urging both public and private sectors to implement such policies.
