Kenyan police officer linked to Dr. Victoria Mutiso's murder previously charged in 2011 killing
Kenyan newspapers on Sunday, August 9, focused on the investigation into the murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso. Police officer Elijah Kimoi, arrested on Friday, August 7, in connection with Dr. Mutiso's murder, had previously been charged with murder alongside five other officers in the 2011 shooting of a Ruaka driver, Stephen Gichuhi Njoroge. Court records indicate Kimoi's service number in both cases was 91232. In a 2015 ruling, a court ordered all six officers to present their defense, though only two, Ariga and Ominde, were convicted in the 2011 case. Separately, The Sunday Standard reported on the engagement of President William Ruto's daughter, Charlene Ruto, to Tanzanian innovator Isaya Yunge, in a ceremony held on Saturday, August 8, at the President's home in Kilgoris, Narok. The event was attended by various political leaders, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
