NAFDAC uncovers continued illegal production of banned sachet and small PET bottle alcoholic drinks

This discovery comes despite a nationwide ban by the Federal Government. During a press briefing in Lagos, Professor Adeyeye stated that enforcement teams conducting raids in Lagos, Ogun, and other states found manufacturers still producing these prohibited products. Investigations revealed that factories linked to banned products circulating in markets were actively manufacturing the alcoholic beverages, with packaging materials found bearing production dates as recent as July 23, 2026.

Professor Adeyeye accused some manufacturers of relocating production to unregistered premises and removing company signboards to evade detection. She also reported that NAFDAC officers faced attacks during operations, with one officer nearly stabbed and another assaulted. Professor Adeyeye reaffirmed NAFDAC's commitment to enforcing the ban, stating that the mop-up exercise will continue, and factories violating the directive will be shut down, with distributors and retailers facing sanctions.
