Moussa Ndir resigns from Petrosen, citing disagreements with new governance

In a letter dated July 2, 2026, Ndir stated that his decision was guided by his conscience and a perceived departure from the values that initially motivated him to join the company. He linked his departure to recent changes at the head of the state and the company, specifically mentioning the departure of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and the appointment of a new leadership in the oil and energy sector whose ideologies he believes are contrary to his own. Ndir emphasized that he no longer recognizes the demands for sovereignty and probity that were conditions of his engagement at PETROSEN.

He stated that he refuses to endorse orientations he deems contrary to Senegal's interests and affirmed his decision is well-considered and irrevocable. Ndir announced his intention to return to France to resume his professional activities, though he committed to assisting with the transition to ensure continuity of ongoing projects. He also expressed respect for his former colleagues at PETROSEN, noting that his disagreement is a matter of principle concerning the country's future and reaffirming his unwavering attachment to Senegal's sovereignty and greatness.
