Moroccan climber Youssef Tazi conquers Himalaya at 15, sets new records

Standing at 6,250 meters, this achievement makes him the youngest Moroccan, African, and Arab climber to exceed 6,000 meters. Tazi dedicated his accomplishment to King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, and the Moroccan people, with a special mention for children and youth. He encouraged young people to believe in their dreams and never give up.

This ascent is part of an already impressive climbing career. In August 2023, he became the youngest Moroccan and Arab climber to surpass 5,000 meters by reaching Mount Ararat in Turkey. In January 2024, at 12, he conquered Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak.

On August 3, 2024, he reached Mount Elbrus, Europe's highest point, under difficult conditions, becoming the youngest Arab and African climber to achieve this. Beyond his athletic feats, Tazi is a young advocate for children's rights with UNICEF Morocco, raising awareness for children in mountainous regions facing challenges in education, healthcare, and recreation.
