Munetsi scores in Wolves' dramatic 2-2 draw against Blackburn in Championship opener
Marshall Munetsi marked his return to Molineux by scoring the opening goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship. The Warriors midfielder, who was on loan at French side Paris FC last season, scored in the 19th minute. Blackburn equalized through Sean McLoughlin and then took the lead with a goal from Gudjohnsen in the second half. Wolves salvaged a point in stoppage time when Raul Jimenez converted a penalty. Munetsi's compatriot, Tawanda Chirewa, also a returning loanee, played the final 12 minutes of the match. Both Munetsi and Chirewa are expected to play for Zimbabwe in the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where Zimbabwe is in Group E with DR Congo, Sierra Leone, and Equatorial Guinea, vying for a top-two finish to qualify for the tournament finals co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
