Prime Minister Ngurare urges governors to drive development and job creation in Namibia
Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has challenged Namibia's 14 regional governors to transform their offices into centers for development, moving beyond mere administrative functions. Speaking at the handover of a N$25 million donation from the Namibia Special Risks Insurance Association to the governors' offices in Windhoek, Ngurare emphasized that regional leaders must ensure government initiatives lead to tangible improvements in citizens' lives. He highlighted the governors' role as a crucial link between central government and local communities, tasked with addressing socioeconomic challenges. Ngurare stressed that the donation should be directed towards "productive development," particularly projects that generate jobs and sustainable economic value. He noted the government's commitment to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah鈥檚 directive for each of Namibia's 14 regions to establish a manufacturing plant based on local production, citing examples such as a mango processing plant in Katima Mulilo and a tomato sauce plant in the Omusati region. The Prime Minister underscored that job creation is central to implementing the Sixth National Development Plan priorities.
