Police officers promised KSh 1.5 million for Dr. Victoria Mutiso's killing, DCI investigations reveal
Investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI have revealed that three police officers were promised KSh 1.5 million to kill Dr. Victoria Mutiso, with each officer slated to receive KSh 500,000. A down payment was reportedly made at the time of the murder. PC Elijah Kibelion Kimoi of Karinde Police Post, identified as the shooter, has been arrested. Inspector of Police Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, officer-in-charge of Nderi Police Post, is at large and is accused of supplying the Mini Jericho pistol used in the killing. Ballistic tests confirmed the weapon fired the fatal shots. Sang is believed to have linked the financiers to the execution team. Dr. Mutiso was killed on July 29 while in an Uber. Her vehicle was intercepted by a black Toyota Prado, and she was shot three times. PC Bett Kiplangat Collins of Thogoto Police Post was forensically placed at the scene and remains at large. CCTV footage and forensic evidence identified two Toyota Prado vehicles, KDE 400W and KDH 600A, used to block the road and transport the team. These vehicles were hired by Daniel Mwangi Njoroge, who reportedly drove one of them. Kelvin Ngugi Kinuthia was also identified as a key participant. Another vehicle, stolen from a land parcel linked to a dispute central to the murder, was found in Kisii.
