The extraordinary session of the National Assembly on Monday, August 10, concluded more rapidly than many Senegalese anticipated. Following the examination of the agenda items, the President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, announced the end of the plenary session, stating, "My dear colleagues, the agenda being exhausted, I propose to the National Assembly to adjourn the session. I invite the Conference of Presidents to gather at 12:30 PM in the conference room of the National Assembly Presidency. The session is adjourned." This announcement surprised many observers, as speculation had suggested lengthy debates. However, once the scheduled points were reviewed, the institution's president ended the plenary without extended discussions. The adjournment of the session does not signify the end of all parliamentary activities for the day. Ousmane Sonko immediately convened the Conference of Presidents, a strategic body of the National Assembly comprising the institution's president, presidents of parliamentary groups, committee chairs, and other officials. This body is responsible for organizing parliamentary work, setting the schedule for future sessions, and coordinating the review of upcoming texts. Therefore, while the public session was shorter than expected, internal consultations continued to prepare for the National Assembly's subsequent work.
