Moov Africa Gabon Telecom launches MIA, an AI voice assistant accessible without a smartphone or internet
Moov Africa Gabon Telecom introduced MIA Moov Interactive Assistant on August 21 in Libreville, an innovation designed to democratize access to artificial intelligence in Gabon. This voice assistant allows users to interact with AI using a basic mobile phone, without requiring a smartphone or internet connection. Clotaire Allogo Ondo, marketing division manager, explained that this solution aims to bridge the digital divide, particularly for those using 2G phones. MIA can answer questions on various topics, including studies, health, travel, and general knowledge. Users dial 333, follow instructions, and verbally ask their questions. The AI processes the query and delivers a vocal response. To ensure quick and accurate responses, users are advised to phrase their questions clearly. The service offers three subscription plans: 15 minutes for 50 FCFA for 24 hours, 60 minutes for 250 FCFA for seven days, and 150 minutes for 500 FCFA for 30 days. Developed in collaboration with Black & Green, MIA targets classic phone users but is also available to smartphone users. Samuel Pambou, marketing service manager, highlighted the service's simplicity, noting that it has already been deployed by other Maroc Telecom subsidiaries. Moov Africa Gabon Telecom aims to reduce the digital divide and make AI accessible to everyday Gabonese citizens through this initiative.
