Lebanese Prime Minister thanks Egypt for role in ceasefire agreement

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, on behalf of the Lebanese government and people, expressed gratitude to the Egyptian leadership following the U.S. President’s announcement of a 10-day ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel. During a phone call with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Migrants, Badr Abdelatty, Prime Minister Salam thanked Egypt for its consistent efforts to preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and the well-being of its people. Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's unwavering support for Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and expressed appreciation for the ceasefire announcement as a critical step toward de-escalation and regional security. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the 10-day ceasefire would take effect at midnight, stating he had spoken with both the Lebanese President and the Israeli Prime Minister. Trump instructed his Vice President and Secretary of State to coordinate with both sides for a permanent resolution, expressing belief that a lasting agreement could be reached soon. He also announced plans to invite both leaders to the White House for direct negotiations.
