Social Democratic Party presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo links corruption to Nigeria's insecurity and poverty
Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, has attributed Nigeria's persistent economic and security issues to corruption. Speaking at the Arewa Awareness Summit on Unity Against Insecurity in Kaduna State, Adebayo emphasized that transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service are crucial for overcoming insecurity and poverty. He stated that Nigeria's challenges are surmountable with effective leadership and good governance, suggesting that most problems could be resolved within three years. Adebayo highlighted corruption as a major impediment to the nation's progress, asserting that no reform would succeed without these core principles. He also noted that Northern Nigeria possesses the human and natural resources for economic growth, viewing its population as an asset. Adebayo called for leaders to focus on practical solutions to insecurity, increased investment in agriculture for employment and food security, and greater investment in quality education to address the high number of out-of-school children in the North. The summit gathered traditional rulers, academics, political leaders, and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for unity and tackling insecurity in Northern Nigeria.
