Kwara PDP questions six-month captivity after 163 residents rescued

This demand was made by the party's state Youth Leader, Adio Odunjo, at a press conference in Ilorin, following Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's confirmation of the residents' rescue. Governor AbdulRazaq stated that the rescue operation, conducted deep within Kainji Lake National Park forest, also freed 145 kidnap victims from Niger State, crediting security agencies and President Bola Tinubu's intervention. Odunjo emphasized that while the rescue is celebrated, questions must be asked about how such an attack occurred, the lack of early warning mechanisms, and the prolonged captivity.

He also questioned the permanent security architecture established in Kaiama and the protection for vulnerable communities bordering Niger State. The PDP youth leader clarified that the party is not blaming the governor personally but is concerned with state-level coordination, intelligence sharing, and the effectiveness of state government mechanisms in working with federal security agencies.
