Police Service Commission hands over 50,000 new constables to Nigeria Police Force for training
The Police Service Commission PSC officially transferred 50,000 newly recruited police constables to the Nigeria Police Force for training. The handover, overseen by retired Justice Paul Galumje, Commissioner I, followed President Bola Tinubu's directive and statutory provisions. Galumje thanked the President for his support and presented the successful candidates to the Nigeria Police Force for training at designated colleges and approved institutions, along with a detailed list on a flash drive. DIG Isyaku Mohammed, overseeing the Force Training and Development Department, received the recruits on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, commending the PSC for a transparent recruitment process. He assured that training would begin nationwide once funds are released. Ibrahim A. Muhammad, Director of Police Service Department at the Ministry of Police Affairs, described the process as credible and transparent. Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the PSC, attributed the successful completion to stakeholder collaboration. President Bola Tinubu had declared a nationwide security emergency on November 26, 2025, ordering the recruitment of 50,000 new police officers to address insecurity. The application portal opened on December 15, 2025, and closed on February 8, 2026, after a two-week extension. The recruitment, concluded approximately seven months after its commencement, aims to enhance the manpower of the Nigeria Police Force.
