Gabon seeks Rwanda's expertise to modernize its public administration
A delegation from Gabon's Ministry of Interior, Security, and Decentralization recently concluded a two-week visit to Kigali, Rwanda, to study Rwanda's experience in e-governance, digital identity, cybersecurity, and the digitization of public services. The visit, which ended on August 28, 2026, aimed to gather insights for Gabon's own administrative modernization and digital transformation efforts. Key areas of focus included the digital transformation of administration, artificial intelligence, digitization of civil status, cybersecurity, personal data protection, and the interconnection of public systems. Gabon plans to adapt these practices to its context, with a governmental portal in preparation to centralize online public services, aiming to simplify administrative procedures and reduce processing times. The delegation also explored the digitization of public services at the decentralized level and discussed the public policies that supported Rwanda's transformation, including institutional choices, interconnection mechanisms, and security measures for a digital administration. This initiative is part of Gabon's broader efforts to build a more accessible, faster, and user-centric public administration.
