Kano APC ward chairman and another resident killed in Rantan community attack

Gunmen reportedly invaded the community, opening fire on residents. Hamza Isah Rantan, a resident, confirmed the attack, stating that Buba was shot inside his home and later died at a hospital, while Zunduma was killed instantly. The Kano State APC spokesperson, Auwalu Soja, also confirmed the ward chairman's death.

This incident follows another attack less than 24 hours prior in the Chiromawa community, Garun Mallam Local Government Area, where the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, was abducted but later rescued. Three residents sustained gunshot injuries in the Garun Mallam attack. The Kano State Police Command has not yet issued a statement on the Rantan attack, but had deployed tactical and patrol teams after the Garun Mallam incident and launched a manhunt for those attackers.

These successive attacks have raised security concerns among residents in parts of Kano State.
