Oyetola tells Osun Governor Adeleke that Tinubu endorsement will not prevent election defeat
Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has stated that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke's endorsement of President Bola Tinubu will not save his administration from defeat in the upcoming governorship election. Speaking to All Progressives Congress APC stakeholders and supporters in Osun State, Oyetola responded to allegations from Governor Adeleke that APC members and leaders of the Accord Party were being intimidated before the August 15 poll. Oyetola, who lost his re-election bid to Adeleke in the 2022 governorship election, suggested that Adeleke's complaints indicate he is losing his grip on the state. He emphasized that Adeleke's endorsement of Tinubu would not prevent the APC from reclaiming the governorship seat. Oyetola also dismissed Adeleke's frequent references to him, stating he has deliberately avoided public exchanges with the governor. Adeleke is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party and will face APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, among others. The election is anticipated to be a close contest, with both camps intensifying their campaigns and trading allegations of violence, intimidation, and arrests of supporters. The APC has denied these allegations, campaigning on its promise to reclaim the state after its 2022 loss to Adeleke.
