
Algeria receives German national abducted in Niger and held for two weeks
Algerian Army Security services on Friday, August 7, 2026, received German national Ulumaskan Sinan, who had been abducted by an armed criminal group in Niger. Sinan, currently in good health, was transferred via a special flight from the In Guezzam Secondary Deployment Base to the Boufarik military base. Algerian authorities will soon hand him over to German authorities for his return home. Sinan recounted his two-week detention by the armed criminal group and expressed his gratitude to the Algerian military authorities for their warm welcome, care, and the efforts of the high Algerian authorities, including the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, in ensuring his safe return.
