Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba reshuffles provincial cabinet, three MECs replaced
Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba has reshuffled her provincial cabinet, replacing three Members of the Executive Council MECs. This is Ramathuba's first cabinet reconstitution since the seventh administration began in July 2024. The new MECs are Pule Shayi, Eddie Maila, and Constance Kupa-Mabuza. The former MECs who were removed are Dioketseng Mashego health, Jerry Maseko sports, art and culture, and Violet Mathye transport and community safety. Ramathuba stated that the decision, though difficult, was necessary to accelerate the province鈥檚 developmental agenda and improve service delivery. She acknowledged Limpopo's challenges, including unemployment, poverty, and access to basic services, and urged the new council to focus on delivering results. The Economic Freedom Fighters EFF in Limpopo, however, criticized the reshuffle, with provincial chair Makgabo Lawrence Mapoulo calling it a "factional move" and "payback time" following the ANC鈥檚 provincial conference earlier this year, rather than a step to enhance service delivery.
