President Ruto calls for KDF to adapt to new threats from AI, cyberattacks, and climate change
President William Ruto has urged a re-evaluation of Kenya's national security strategy to address emerging threats such as artificial intelligence, cyberattacks, climate shocks, and new disease outbreaks. Speaking at a Kenya Defence Forces KDF passing-out parade in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, President Ruto emphasized that security and development are interconnected. He stated that national security must expand beyond physical borders to include digital systems, critical infrastructure, food and energy systems, and territorial waters. The President pledged increased government investment in KDF welfare, training, and operational readiness, highlighting cybersecurity, intelligence, maritime security, and military medicine as key areas for development. He also assured KDF personnel and their families of dignity and recognition for their service. President Ruto congratulated the graduating recruits, encouraging them to serve with courage, discipline, and restraint.
