COJOJ secures 74 hotels with 5,200 rooms for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games
The Organising Committee of the Youth Olympic Games COJOJ has taken a significant step in preparing to host delegations for Dakar 2026. On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, a strategic alignment meeting brought together COJOJ officials, the Ministry of Tourism, and hospitality stakeholders to coordinate the operational phase of accommodation. Ibrahima Wade, COJOJ Coordinator, confirmed the signing of contracts with 74 hotel establishments across the three main event hubs: Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly. This arrangement secures 5,200 rooms, ranging from 3 to 5 stars, fully meeting the estimated needs for officials and international delegations. The meeting aimed to define the expected quality standards for this global event. Ibrahima Wade emphasized the importance of sharing service quality expectations and ensuring Senegal demonstrates its capacity to host the world, adhering to international delivery standards. Moustapha Kane, Executive Secretary General of the Federation of Employers' Organizations in the Tourism Sector, noted that the Youth Olympic Games represent an unprecedented economic opportunity for the private sector. With the national average occupancy rate typically around 40%, the event is expected to provide a boost to tourism professionals and sustainably enhance Senegal's attractiveness on the global stage.
