House of Representatives working with executive on pro-people bills, says Deputy Spokesman Agbese

Agbese highlighted that the House has initiated several people-oriented legislative measures, sometimes even before similar proposals from the executive. He cited the proposed establishment of state police as an example, noting that the initiative originated from the National Assembly. Agbese clarified that the executive's subsequent introduction of its own bill on state police allows both government arms to harmonize their positions for a comprehensive proposal.

He also mentioned that resolutions between the House and security chiefs are yielding positive results in combating insecurity, referencing recent rescue operations in Oyo and Kwara States. Agbese commended the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and other service chiefs for their coordinated approach to security operations, as well as the Federal Government for improving military welfare. Addressing calls for the National Assembly to suspend its recess due to national issues like insecurity and unpaid contractors, Agbese questioned the timing of such demands, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching.
