Youssef Zalal to face Zabit Magomedsharipov in Istanbul main event
Moroccan fighter Youssef Zalal is set to compete against Zabit Magomedsharipov, a former UFC featherweight, in the main event of ACBJJ 22. The "no-gi" grappling match will take place on August 30 at the Ora Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. This marks a significant challenge for Zalal, who is returning to the ring after a loss to Aljamain Sterling in April. Zalal, 29, holds a professional record of 18 wins, six losses, and one draw in mixed martial arts. He is known for his ground control and submission skills, having secured several submission victories in the UFC. Magomedsharipov's return to competition is highly anticipated, as he previously retired from MMA with a 14-fight winning streak and a top-three ranking in the featherweight division, including a perfect 6-0 record in the UFC. The Istanbul event will also feature a grappling match between Palestinian Belal Muhammad, a former UFC welterweight champion, and Kerim Engizek, a former OKTAGON titleholder. For Zalal, this fight against Magomedsharipov offers an opportunity to regain momentum and solidify his position as a top grappling specialist. The match will be contested at 70 kg and will be available for free viewing on ACBJJ's official platforms.
