CITAD calls for NIMC Director-General's resignation from APC campaign council
The Centre for Information Technology and Development CITAD has urged Dr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote, the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission NIMC, to resign from her alleged role in the All Progressives Congress APC Presidential Campaign Council. CITAD warns that holding both positions could compromise public trust in the political neutrality of Nigeria鈥檚 national identity database, especially as campaigns for the 2027 general elections begin. The organization expressed concern over Coker-Odusote's alleged appointment as Director of Data Management in the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections. CITAD emphasized that NIMC manages Nigeria's National Identity Database, which contains sensitive personal and biometric information of millions of Nigerians, and its integrity and political neutrality are crucial for national security and public trust. The group argues that simultaneous roles create a conflict of interest and an appearance of compromised neutrality, even while clarifying that they are not alleging misuse of data but rather an institutional conflict and perception of partisan influence.
