Global HIV cases and AIDS-related deaths reach 30-year low, Botswana leads in pediatric coverage

Botswana is recognized as a leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS, particularly for its high coverage of children in key metrics, according to a recent UNAIDS report. Botswana has maintained its status among countries achieving the 95-95-95 targets. These targets, set a decade ago to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030, aim for 95% of people living with HIV to know their status, 95% of those diagnosed to be on antiretroviral therapy ARVs, and 95% of those on ARVs to have viral load suppression by 2025.

Despite this progress, intergenerational and transactional relationships continue to be a significant factor driving new infections in Botswana.
