Ghanaian students infusing drugs into food and drinks on campuses, NACOC deputy director-general warns

This trend emerged following the arrest of five students at Central University in a recent drug-related operation. Twum-Barimah stated that the suspects were students distributing these drug-infused products themselves, highlighting the danger of internal distribution.

He added that this practice makes drug abuse among young people more difficult to detect. The arrested students, from various academic levels, were apprehended during a targeted NACOC operation based on intelligence reports of illicit drug activities within the university. Quantities of suspected substances were seized for forensic analysis as part of ongoing investigations.
