Vice President Opoku-Agyemang urges universities to strengthen industry partnerships for graduate skills development
Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang called on universities to enhance collaborations with industries to ensure graduates possess skills relevant to Ghana's development. Speaking at KAAF University's graduation, she emphasized that tertiary institutions must produce job-ready professionals in fields such as engineering, digital innovation, healthcare, governance, and law. Professor Opoku-Agyemang stated that the government's "Resetting Ghana" vision requires institutions that generate solutions, industries that invest in local talent, and citizens prepared to be ethical leaders. She encouraged KAAF University to deepen research and industry collaboration to align graduate skills with economic needs. The ceremony also marked a significant gender milestone, with women comprising 58% of the graduating class. Professor Opoku-Agyemang commended staff and urged graduates to embrace responsibility, integrity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, while rejecting corruption and mediocrity, to contribute to the "Resetting Ghana Agenda." KAAF's Vice Chancellor, Dr. Francis Acheampong, described the event as historic, marking the university's first graduation under its own academic authority, and urged graduates to become problem solvers and agents of change.
