Germany's Ferrostaal to resume gas exploitation at AGOCO's Sarir and Messla J22 Fields in Libya

Libya's Arabian Gulf Oil Company AGOCO announced that Germany's Ferrostaal oil services company will resume gas exploitation work at AGOCO's Sarir and Messla J22 Fields. This decision followed a meeting between AGOCO Chairman Mohamed Bin Shatwan and the Management Committee to discuss Ferrostaal's return, aiming to accelerate a vital project. AGOCO stated the project is approximately 96.15% complete, with Ferrostaal expected to begin trial operations soon, leading to full operation. The project, launched in December 2017, aims to capture natural gas released during crude oil production. This captured gas will supply power to an electricity station linked to the Great Man-Made River Project, promoting sustainable energy. AGOCO emphasized its commitment to gas development, increased production, and optimal resource utilization. In June 2025, AGOCO had reported 96% completion of the gas utilization project at the J22 field and announced the final phase would begin on July 15, including a training program for 42 technical staff.
