Four nursing mothers and their babies rescued from illegal dumpsite in Lagos

The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, known as KAI, found the women living in shanties in inhumane conditions and provided medical assistance. The women, identified as Fareedat Muyideen, 23, from Kwara State; Ayomide Ayomoke, 25, from Ondo State; Oziema Abalihi, 20, from Anambra State; and Chisom Ugo, 24, from Imo State, were with their babies, including a nine-day-old infant. This incident highlights the severe poverty and social vulnerability in Nigeria, where over 140 million people live in extreme poverty, exacerbated by the removal of petrol subsidies.

The agency is working with authorities to rehabilitate and reintegrate the women.
