Senegal eliminated from Women's Africa Cup of Nations 2026 after draw with Morocco
Senegal's national women's football team, the Lionesses of Teranga, have been eliminated from the Women's Africa Cup of Nations 2026 after a 0-0 draw against Morocco. The match, held at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, was the third and final group stage game for both teams in Group A. Morocco, the host nation, had already secured qualification for the quarterfinals prior to this match and finished the group stage undefeated and in first place. Senegal needed a win to advance to the quarterfinals but the draw was insufficient. Their tournament journey included an initial 0-2 loss to Algeria, followed by a 1-0 victory against Kenya. This early exit marks a setback for the team, which had aimed to surpass their quarterfinal achievements in the 2022 and 2024 editions of the competition.
