Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose inaugurated as Rural Electrification Agency chairman

The development was announced in a statement by FCT Minister Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka. Other members inaugurated include Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar, Mr. Ilyasu Makinta, and three other non-executive directors, while Mr. Abba Aliyu assumed office as the Managing Director. Fayose thanked President Bola Tinubu for the appointment, stating his immediate focus will be to provide political will and secure funding for the agency's programs.

He emphasized that the REA's role extends beyond providing electricity to ensuring its impact is felt by communities and the wider population, especially at the grassroots level. Minister Tegbe highlighted the shift from measuring power generation to counting communities and people benefiting from electricity, noting that REA's mandate has implications for education, healthcare, agriculture, businesses, and economic development. He described REA as a strategic institution for expanding opportunity and a bridge between national electricity policy and grassroots development.
