President Tinubu mourns passing of Eagle Online publisher Dotun Oladipo
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his condolences on the death of journalist Dotun Oladipo, publisher of The Eagle Online, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 56. In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Oladipo's death as a significant loss to Nigeria's media industry and the nation. The President recognized Oladipo's contributions to political journalism and digital media, highlighting his efforts to provide credible information through both traditional and online platforms. He noted that Oladipo's career exemplified the media's role in strengthening democracy by informing citizens, holding officials accountable, and fostering public discourse. President Tinubu also acknowledged Oladipo's role in the growth of digital journalism through The Eagle Online, which he founded after his time at PUNCH Newspapers. The President extended his sympathies to Oladipo's family, colleagues, and friends, including members of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, where Oladipo served as president from 2017 to 2021. He prayed for eternal rest for Oladipo and strength for his loved ones to cope with the loss.
