
Investigation into Jonathan Koo Yam Too's death continues with foreign assistance
Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam announced in Parliament that the investigation into the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Jonathan Koo Yam Too is actively ongoing. A team of foreign investigators is now assisting the Mauritian police. To date, 21 individuals have been questioned and released after providing statements. Investigators are also analyzing surveillance footage from various sources. On July 8, police issued a public appeal for witnesses, offering a reward of Rs 500,000 for reliable information. Since then, four people have come forward, and three statements have been recorded. The incident occurred on June 11, 2026, when police in Midlands discovered the victim's body with a gunshot wound to the left side of the chest. According to the Prime Minister, MCIT investigators are conducting daily interrogations of suspects as the case remains under investigation.
