Professor Gyampo criticizes Minority boycott of Supreme Court nominee vetting
Professor Ransford Gyampo, CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, stated that Ghana's democratic maturity will remain slow, criticizing the Minority in Parliament for boycotting the vetting of Supreme Court nominees. His comments followed the Minority's walkout from the vetting process on August 27, 2026. Led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Caucus cited breaches of parliamentary procedure and argued that the Majority was abusing its numbers and failing to follow Parliament鈥檚 Standing Orders. Professor Gyampo believes such actions hinder Ghana's progress in building a mature democracy.
